One arena of dance Willow is passionate about

is Theatrical Dance. When meditating on how

it differs from Contemporary Dance, the main

focus is to remain true to its’ story-telling and

narrative origins.

Willow believes Theatrical Dance isn’t

determined by the space. Although a

proscenium, raised stage is desired,it doesn’t

define the dance.

Willow’s definition of Theatrical Dance includes:

-a commitment to the story being told,

through dance and movement

  1. -displaying and exploring emotional depth

-employing dramatic ‘cause and effect,’ also regarded as dramatic tension

-the completion of some emotional and artistic journey

Willow has often drawn upon inspiration from ancient myths (Medusa and Athena), stories (the Shinto Kitsune Fox), fairy tales (Little Red Riding Hood), dreams, psychological phenomenon and emotional archeology (Saudade) to create and share personal, fantastical and powerful dances. She believes in creating a safe place where her audience make experience the wealth of emotions, to allow them to feel with eased access or even to spark their own creative process. In essence, she strives to uphold the healing and ritual purposes of dance and storytelling, in this theatrical medium.

Willow has created unique dances for events world wide including:
